Henderson'sMountedCo. 29th Reg't Mounted Vols., part of Smith' s Mounted Vols,for the CreekIndian War of 1836, but this may not be our DanielThomas. Pati ence andchildren moved to Liberty County, Texas, aftertheir house at OakeyStreak was destroy ed during the Civil War.Stories say that Unionsoldiers burned the house.
According to the Grand Secretary (Robert Savage) of the Grand LodgeFree& Accepted Masons o f America in a letter responding to a 1978inquiry byPatricia Thomas Grubbs, Daniel L. Thoma s affiliated withEureka Lodge 64at Greenville, Alabama, on July 9, 1853. On June 11,1859 , he affiliated with Quitman Lodge 254 at Georgiana, Alabama. Hedied in 1865. This may not be our Daniel Thomas since the death datecoincides with that of another Daniel Thomas in Butler County,Alabama.
