Crawford Junior, James (b. 17 APR 1772, d. 5 JUL 1852)
Reference: 64
Note: SOURCE NOTES:
!UPDATE: 26 NOV 1995

!James and his wife, Sally, moved to Preble County Ohio from
Kentucky. James and William Sellers filed for a patent on 1 June 1816 at the
Cincinnati land office for the northwest quarter of section 14 township 7
range
2 in Preble County Ohio. This land adjoined land owned by another James
Crawford (husband of Martha Knight) who also moved to Preble County Ohio from
Kentucky. Since there is only two years difference in their ages, it is
difficult to distinguish all of the information regarding these two families.
However, most of the references to James Crawford in the histories of Preble
County Ohio are either to "Big Jimmie", James Crawford Sr., or for events
prior
to 1830 when James and Martha migrated to Indiana. These two couples were
married in adjacent Kentucky counties and their descendents are found in the
same communities: Warren County, Indiana and Dodge City, Kansas.

!On 11 December 1821, it appears that James Crawford and William Sellers
traded
land. James and Sally sold the east half of the northwest quarter of section
14, township 7 range 2 east to William Sellers for $300.00. On the same date,
James Crawford, Jr. purchased the west half of the northwest quarter of
section
14, township 7, range 2 east for $300.00

!James Crawford's will identifies his wife Sally, his son Nelson G. Crawford
of
Indiana and two granddaughters: Mary Ann Wikle and Martha Jane Stover.
Nelson
Crawford was to receive the balance of the estate at the death of his mother.
He was named the executor of the estate.

!In 1856, William Duggins, Sally Duggins and Sally Crawford sold the west half
of the northwest quarter of section 14, township 7 range two east to C. J.
White for $2000.00. The property was "deeded to the said William Duggins by
Nelson G. Crawford."
